Event Update

The current University health and safety protocols prevent us from safely hosting large indoor events with food and beverage. Sadly, given its size and scope, we are not able to successfully host the Gianera Lunch outside. Keeping you safe is our highest priority. Therefore after much thoughtful consideration, we have come to the very difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Gianera Lunch.  We plan to recognize our 50th reunion classes with a private ceremony on Saturday, October 9, from noon to 1 p.m.—more details will be coming soon. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the event in October 2022!

The Gianera Society is an honorary designation with membership limited to those undergraduate alumni whose class graduated from Santa Clara 50 or more years ago.

The society’s sole purpose is to pay tribute to the legacy provided by our "Golden Broncos" and acknowledge their long-standing loyalty to the University, their classmates, and the Alumni Association. Gianera Society members meet every year for a luncheon during the Grand Reunion Weekend in October to induct their newest members (those attending their 50th Reunion) and renew the camaraderie and lifelong friendships that developed and flourished at Santa Clara.

Quotes from Past Attendees

"I expected to have some fun at the 50th reunion but it went far beyond our expectations. We had a really, really good time. We had fun at our 10th year and our 25th -- but this last weekend was extraordinary. Somewhat surprisingly, the highlight of the 3 days for me was having Fr. President place the Gianera medal over my neck [its significance meant much more to me than I could have earlier anticipated]..."

            - Dave Murray ’64

"I knew the Gianera Lunch was a must! Friends from the classes of 1966 and 1967 had rated it 5+ stars. Everyone agreed it was a wonderful event."

    - Dee Danna ’68

Each member of the 50th Reunion Class receives a bona fide Gianera medal at the lunch.
