Assistant Professor, Management
Kelly Patterson joined Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business after graduating with a Ph.D. from the Cornell University Department of Sociology and teaching in the Management Department at the University of Southern California.
Professor Patterson’s research examines decision-making processes in markets, namely the selection and appraisal of people and innovative practices in upstart organizations and projects. Investigating hiring and evaluation trends, he examines the way that costly and noisy choices are shaped by social learning processes and the participants’ social identity.
Professor Patterson holds an MBA from Ohio State and a BS in Business from The Citadel. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked as a consulting manager for Accenture and served for six years as a Marine Corps officer.
