Spring Quarter - Week 5

A message from Alyse Hudock

Dear SCU friends,

Ramadan Mubarak! One of my favorite memories in my past year at SCU has been offering daily iftars across campus during Ramadan and getting to be with students who were breaking fast during class or living on campus. While we cannot gather together for iftars on campus or in mosques this year, please know that we wish all those observing and fasting during Ramadan that God may bless your path with knowledge and light that will help to enlighten your heart!

In my role in Campus Ministry, I have the privilege of working with the Spirituality Facilitator team. The SFs are graduate students who live in each of the undergraduate residence halls to provide pastoral care and spiritual resources to students. I’m excited to announce that the SFs will continue to serve undergraduate students on and off campus by continuing to host weekly virtual Hospitality Hours or virtual mindfulness practices! If you are missing your community from your residence hall, or would like to connect with a community in a hall on campus that you used to live in, I invite you to connect with your SF, a friend’s SF, or a previous SF to get connected in a new way. You can find what offerings are available each week here

ECHO Program at Notre Dame
Thumbnail image

In the past 17 years, Echo has harnessed the world-class education of the University of Notre Dame and developed a model that is unique in its training and preparation, giving its students the opportunity to grow in holiness while serving the Church. Through the Echo program, college graduates and young adults have the opportunity to serve in a parish or school in one of the Echo partner dioceses located throughout the United States while earning a Master of Arts in Theology at the University of Notre Dame.

Spring Informational Session
Tuesday, April 28

Echo offers all of the following (and more):

  • a competitive stipend for on-site parish or school service

  • a tuition-free graduate degree in theology (2 year MA)

  • housing and utilities at no cost

  • an educational allowance each summer

  • full meal plan and rent-free housing during summers at Notre Dame

Students are not required to have a background in formal academic theology, although those students, as well as those who have been engaged in theological education, pastoral and retreat ministry, make excellent candidates. Echo students benefit from a robust formation program that integrates their work, study and life of faith to serve the Church and explore a career in ministry. Students live, learn from and serve the catechetical mission of the Church.

JVC Northwest is hosting a virtual information session on Thursday. You have questions, they have answers. This informal Q+A session is your chance to ask our recruitment team anything and everything you can think of related to post-grad service and JVC Northwest.

How is JVC Northwest similar and different than other post-grad service years? What’s it like to live with other JVs? How can I make my application stand out? Can I bring my car? Does it really rain as much as they say it does in Northwest? Join the session to find out.
