Excellence in Catholic Education and Leadership (ExCEL) is a two-year, fully-funded program designed to prepare and develop the "whole teacher" and to serve Catholic education in the Dioceses of San Jose and Monterey. ExCEL members serve as full-time teachers in Catholic elementary, middle, or high schools while also taking courses at Santa Clara University toward earning a Master of Arts in Teaching and teaching credential. Additionally, ExCEL members commit to living together in intentional communities, where they participate in regular activities meant to support their fellowship, faith, and spiritual development.
Catholic Master of Arts in Teaching (CatMAT) is a two-year program designed to help current Catholic school teachers earn their MAT and California teaching credential. CatMAT students take intensive summer course loads, with only few courses during the school year, so they can focus more fully on their jobs. The majority of CatMAT courses are taught from a distinctively Catholic perspective so that education theories and practices are relevant to the Catholic school contexts in which CatMAT teachers work. All full-time Catholic school teachers are eligible to join CatMAT, and they receive a 50% tuition reduction for the program.
The Latinx Education Research Center (LERC) builds on a long history of expertise on Latinx education and well-being issues. Our goals are to deepen our ongoing commitment to serve all of the Latinx communities. Our mission is to develop LERC into an intellectual “hub” for faculty and students as well as to other schools. Our main focus will be education but also with an eye on supporting human flourishing and well-being. We aim to bring faculty and students as well as our external partners together to build a network sharing common research interests and a commitment to ensuring the well-being of the Latinx community.
CPD provides continuing education opportunities so that those currently working as educators or therapists can continue to learn, grow, and develop new skills. Our workshops are a unique opportunity to supplement your practice so you can assess and treat behavioral sleep problems that may come up in the course of your work with families.
The Leadership Initiative will plan and launch a unified program of training and support services for Catholic schools and parishes, and for the charter, private, and public schools. This initiative will bring together educational leadership degree and certificate programs, as well as Catholic innovations, blended learning, and church management efforts. The intent is to create and support a pipeline of effective, innovative school leaders who are data-driven decision makers across the wider region including charter, public, and private education providers, and in collaboration with partner Catholic universities in the region and across the nation.
